[Borneo Post Online] SEGI College Sarawak raring to go with new principal Ivy Lau

KUCHING: SEGi College Sarawak is happy to welcome its new principal Ivy Lau, whose industry experience and dedication will ensure that the college remains committed to excellence and providing quality education.

In a press statement from the college, besides being the Sarawak chairperson of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM), Lau is also active in Toastmasters International and currently serves as one of the top three leaders in District 87.

With a wealth of academic and managerial leadership experience built on a strong foundation of academia and industry, Lau and her team — Helen Ngu (SEGi deputy principal), Elina Tiu (vice president for PACE) and Victor Loong (SEGi sales and marketing director) — are setting in motion various initiatives to transform the lives of SEGi students.

SEGi College Sarawak has two campuses in Kuching with the main campus located at 211, Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching, while the branch campus is located at Block B (King Centre), Jalan Tun Jugah, Kuchng.

Meanwhile, the recent launch of the Professional and Adult Education (PACE) Sarawak (Graduate School of Business) at the branch campus at King Centre allows busy working adults to obtain higher qualifications at their own pace with a flexible study schedule.

Minister of Women, Welfare and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah was guest of honour at the launching ceremony together with SEGi University and Colleges chief operating officer Robert Antonides and SEGi University vice chancellor Emeritius Professor Dr Muhamad Awang.

PACE Sarawak or SEGi’s Graduate School of Business is an online and distance learning centre by SEGi University which offers diploma, undergraduate to postgraduate programmes.

New courses include BA (Hons) Early Years Education from University of Greenwich which will be available soon.

SEGi College Sarawak has a new partnership with TROY University from the United States to provide quality 4+0 American education to students for the Aug 2015 session.

The college also offers the Edexcel A-Level programme which is recognised globally as a gateway to world-class universities.

Students completing the programme can embark on their dream to be solicitors or barristers by pursuing a Bachelor of Law course from the University of London.

At SEGI College Sarawak, students can also earn other internationally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications ranging from business administration to culinary arts and hotel management.

Education at SEGi College Sarawak emphasises the development of industry relevant technical and soft skills that give students a competitive advantage in the job market.

The initiatives that Ivy and her team are working on at SEGi College Sarawak include upgrading the teaching infrastructure at its campuses and enhancing the students’ experience.
