KUCHING: The Faculty of Law at SEGi College Sarawak held a workshop on ‘Critical Thinking and Logical Fallacies’ recently with over 30 students attending.

It was conducted by the public speaker Dunstan Chan who trained as a Barrister in the United Kingdom.

He is also a winner of numerous public speaking contests both in local and international forums and has established himself as a well sought-after public speaker in the Asia-Pacific region.

He writes a weekly column in The Borneo Post and is the author of ‘Sound and Silence’, a collection of 100 essays on motivation, human values, attitude and environmental concerns.

During the workshop, SEGi law students learnt that legal theories and problems need specific approach.

The students had the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue on the nature of thinking and how humans’ thought processes can be re-trained for enhanced critical approaches.

The Faculty of Law at SEGi College Sarawak, the only College in East Malaysia to offer law programmes, is committed to provide quality legal education.

It provides talks, workshops and forums to help students graduate with better knowledge and skills.

Recently a forum entitled ‘Islamic Law in Malaysia’, a joint initiative between the Faculty of Law and the Islamic Information Centre, was held at the college to broaden the understanding of students on how Islamic law operates within the Malaysian legal system.

Following that, a talk on ‘Life After Law School’ was held to let students know of their career prospects.
