TEAMS from as far as Kajang, Klang and Rawang are expected to take part in the SEGi College Subang Jaya Gatorade 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge to be held at SEGi College Subang Jaya campus on Dec 20.

Adapted from the popular game of streetball, this platform will definitely put its players’ skills, agility and flexibility to the test.

Tournament director Wong Wing Wai said that in the past, basketball tournaments were only held in primary and secondary schools but there was no three-on-three tournaments where individuals could standout during a match.

“The organiser are giving the opportunity to students to develop their skills and have an avenue to showcase their talent.

 

“With this tournament, youths can now look forward to an event where they can compete with other players from different districts.

“Basketball is popular in Subang Jaya as there are many basketball courts around the township.

“Tournaments are frequently held at the USJ 9 Courts in Subang Jaya throughout the year and with the current school holidays, students can look forward to taking part in another tournament,’’ he said.

There will be three categories — boys’ Under-15, girls’ Under-18 and boys’ Under-18 — where winning teams will receive RM3,000 in cash and prizes.

The entry fee for each team is RM60 and each player will get a jersey and a bottle of Gatorade drink. Entries close on Dec 13.
