[The Star] MOU enables students to pay lower fees for English test

SEGi College Penang has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ESHIA & Associates to offer an English proficiency assessment for its students at a lower rate.

ESHIA is an Educational Testing Service company which is an authorised provider and distributor of TOEIC and TOEFL family of products.

Representing SEGi were college principal Cheah Teong Keat, vice-principal of academic Dr William Wong, vice-principal of institutional effectiveness Dr Tie Hui Hui and SEGi Group chief operating officer Robert Antonides.

From ESHIA were its ma-naging director Ezani Amir, business development manager Norzahizan Ismail and administrator Norazah Shamsuddin.

 

Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is used by more than 15,000 organisations in the world. Airlines, banks, financial institutions, hospitality industries, government institutions, non-government organisations and numerous volunteer organisations use it to test their employees.

The most widely respected English-language test globally, TOEFL is recognised by more than 9000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries including Australia, Canada, UK and the United States.

The TOEIC test is a fair, valid and reliable English proficiency assessment.

The assessment comprises of TOEIC listening and reading test and TOEIC speaking and writing test.

With this MOU, students of SEGi College Penang can sit the TOEIC test by paying a lower rate.

The TOEIC test has the following outstanding features:

— test questions are based on real-life situations and are relevant to global organisations today

— it is an internationally recognised standard for both the organisation and individual

— it is time and cost-saving and it helps organisations to put the right person in the right job

— the test provides the test takers and the organisations with a detailed Score Report, which includes descriptions of the test taker’s strengths and weaknesses. This Score Report can be used as a base for hiring, placement, training needs and programme development.

The MOU will not only benefit SEGi College Penang but it will also equip students with the extra advantage to be a more competitive person in the working environment.
