SIBU: Segi University Sibu Clinical Campus held its second blood donation drive at Sibu Hospital yesterday, with organising chairperson Fatimah Sulaiman saying it has been made into an annual event.

The first was held last year with 35 persons donating blood .

“We’re targeting to have 50 donors this time,” she said when met before the launching of the event yesterday.

Meanwhile, Segi University’s Faculty of Medicine associate dean Prof Dr Mohd Raili Suhaili reminded the public that donating blood would not affect their health.

“I have been a blood donor for more than 30 years until now and I still feel healthy,” Dr Mohd Raili said when officiating at the event.

“Many lives can be saved by donated blood,” he added.

Sibu Blood Bank’s public relations officer Lily Sinta said its blood stock needed to be replenished during the school holiday and festive season.

Lily said the Blood Bank will be extending its operation hours on Dec 29 for those intending to donate blood.

“We’ll close at 9pm on Dec 29,” she said.
