[Borneo Post Online] SEGi College Sarawak students, staff lauded for dedication to succeed

KUCHING: SEGi College Sarawak graduates who obtained their degree from University of Sunderland, United Kingdom have been lauded for their achievement.

The university’s deputy vice chancellor (Academics) Prof Dr Michael Young said the achievements were a result of dedication shown by both students and staff.

“This is your (students) day and you deserve the achievement and you should celebrate the occasion today. Secondly, celebrate more and thirdly, celebrate a lot,” he said to the applause of the graduates, their parents and guests.

“I also like to thank the staff of SEGi College for being inspiring to and supportive of our students. Your engagement with students and your dedication is exemplary. You should be proud of yourselves and what you have done,” he added.

Young was speaking at the SEGi College Convocation 2017 ceremony held here yesterday, during which he presented academic scrolls to 60 students from the college who graduated from the university.

Eleven students from the university’s business faculty graduated with first class honours while one student obtained a master’s degree in management.

A total 306 SEGi College Sarawak students received their scrolls yesterday from SEGi University Malaysia, University of Sunderland, and University of London, United Kingdom.

Among those present at the ceremony were SEGi College Sarawak chief executive Datu Putit Matzen, SEGi University vice chancellor Prof Dr Patrick Kee Peng Kong, SEGi College Sarawak academic head Dr Wendy Hii and principal Ivy Lau.
