[BorneoPost] 202 receive scrolls at SEGi College convocation ceremony

KUCHING: A total of 202 graduands received their scrolls at SEGi College Sarawak 2019 convocation ceremony which was held at a hotel here yesterday.

The ceremony honoured 23 first class students, with eight students earning the High Achiever Award scoring a 4.0 CGPA.

During the ceremony, SEGi College Sarawak 2019 valedictorian Wong Shook Ling from Diploma in Business Administration expressed her vote of thanks to her peers and lecturers in front of over 500 friends and families.

Among the graduands who were honoured with the Recognition of High Achievers for 2019 were Wong Shook Ling (Diploma in Business Administration), Timothy Henly Vincent (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology), Yee Siew Chew (Diploma in Culinary Arts), Donna Chin Ruo Xuan (Diploma in Hotel Management), Chai Sin Yee (Diploma in Early Childhood Education), Tang Siaw Ting (Diploma in Accountancy), Ling Jia Ning (Diploma in Law) and Marisa Birgitta Wong Sze Joo (Diploma in Psychology).

Present at the convocation were SEGi College Sarawak chief executive Datu Putit Matzen, University of Sunderland; United Kingdom vice-chancellor for Academic Professor Michael Young; University of Greenwich’s principal lecturer for the Faculty of Business, International Collaborations Representative (Southeast Asia) Dr Raj Dass, SEGi College Sarawak principal Doreen D’orville, deputy principal Dr Suzie Lau, head of Academic Dr Wendy Hii and programme leaders.

“Graduates were reminded to uphold SEGi’s name after finishing their studies with SEGi. We wish all our graduates more achievements and success after graduating.

“While we do encourage students to never stop in their quest to further their knowledge, we do hope that SEGi will produce many quality individuals through the education provided by college,” said Putit in his speech during the ceremony.

First established in 1977, SEGi University and College has undergone tremendous growth to meet the demands for tertiary and professional education.

With a population of 20,000 local and international students, SEGi stands as one of the most established private higher education institutions in Malaysia.

Today, SEGi stands proud of its flagship campus in Kota Damansara and four other campuses in Subang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kuching.
